This month’s song, Tennessee Waltz comes by way of a request. This song was written in the late 40’s and was a huge country hit for Patti Page in 1950. It has been recorded many, many times since and, according to Wikipedia, “as of 1974, it was the biggest selling song ever in Japan.” Awesome. Most people sing the TN Waltz, but a huge part of it’s power comes from its beautiful, longing melody. I’m teaching it here this week as an instrumental.
