Greetings Ukulele Friends and Neighbors! Happy Musical New Year to you all! Let’s start the year off on the good foot with a Duke Ellington song called "Don't Get Around Much Anymore.” In this lesson we’ll learn it in the key of G and find ways to add some movement to the various chords - G, E7, Am, D7, C, and Cm. Although we’re pretty well versed by now in 3-4 chord songs, the musical logic of this tune should make perfect sense to you. For the verses we’ll use some straightforward strumming but in this case it seems like a switch to finger picking will give us some unique soloing possibilities. As always, the solo section will be more or less chord-based. The melody of this song is beautiful and I hope that you find your way to singing it with gusto. It’s my wish that your year is off to a good start, what a pleasure to be sharing music with you here at the Sonic Junction! Let me know what’s happening in your uke world….
