Greetings Social Music Devotees!
We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to bring you a special lesson: Harmony Singing, part one. In this lesson my fiancé, Claudia Eliaza, and I will take a look at two songs that you've already learned - Up Above My Head and Rock Island Line - and go over how to approach them with harmony singing in mind. We'll examine some of the concepts that you can use in just about any of the songs we've learned in these lessons so far. Group singing and harmony singing are an essential part of social music making. If you've been telling yourself "oh, I can't sing" let's change that to "I'm finding my voice" and extend that positive attitude to the rich field of vocal harmonies. Let me know what you think of this uplifting musical sidebar lesson. And have fun with it, my friends!
