Greetings Guitar Friends and Freaks! Here we are again in the lyrical land of Social Music with the Beatles classic “I’ve Just Seen a Face.” At one point in time it may have been unthinkable for the folk crew playing “The Coo-Coo” and “Shenandoah” to suddenly break into a Beatles song but those restrictions are nowhere to be seen for us here. When it comes to Social Music, the trick is to get people singing and playing together and we’ll do whatever it takes. And besides, this is a beautiful song! In this lesson we’ll drop the pick and look at what we can do picking bass notes with our thumbs and brushing the strings with our fingers. It turns out we can do a lot. We’ll also work on a few bass runs to connect the chords and, to really take things to a satisfying place, we’ll give the song a Carter Family style bass note solo. All that in one lesson! So tune up and let’s dig in….
