Greetings Lovers of the Ukulele Lifestyle!
Here we are again and I don’t want the idea of Social Music to become predictable because it certainly isn't - it’s wide open! Which brings us back to Bob Marley and the Wailers. In this lesson we’ll look at their classic Lively Up Yourself and break it down to some core ingredients. The version we’re playing here is in the key of D although we’ll play it as a D7. The song is really just two chords and I hesitate to say “just" two chords because you can create a musical universe within those chords and that’s really what this lesson is about. We’ll rock back and forth between the D7 and G7. Along the way we’ll use pull-offs, slide-ups, and hammer-ons as well as different strumming and picking patterns to make a flowing version of this song that would be fun for one uke and an entire month of Sundays for two ukes. Let me know how it goes for you! Thank you for tuning in to my lessons here at The Sonic Junction, it’s been inspiring to share the music with you.
