Hello Harpsters!
Today we start dissecting my first 1st Position study piece here - “First Class”. The first thing to remember is when you tackle a new position, it is a completely new mindset, meaning the note patterns for licks and scales is going to be totally new. You need to start building a new set of playing habits for each new position you learn. For this piece I also am sticking with the bottom part of the harp, but even though I am sticking down there, there will be lots to work on. Be sure to have a tuner for your bending practice as well, as the individual bends on 2 and 3 draw will be coming in handy here. Allow yourself time to listen to each section and get used to the sounds first, and then start digging in.
Enjoy, and I’ll see you in First Class!
