Hi Folks,
Greetings from Austria! This weeks lesson is on the solo for Freddie King's "Tore Down". As most Freddy Mug solos, its very memorable but as direct and simple as it is, it's not so simple to play exactly like Freddie. His improvised use of in and out of time bends make it hard to copy. But what you can do is copy is his use of these type of bends with the track to come up with your own musical equation to replicate the "feeling" of what he is doing at those points. In other words come a close as you can to his solo (as I did) then work on you own feel to come in and out of time in those sections where those bends are. It will give you a sense of what Freddie is doing in those passages that are hard to conceive.
Good luck and enjoy!
Duke

Hey Duke! Glad to hear that the tour is going great! If you get a chance to listen to this one while on the road, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm playing what I *think* is that super-fast lick -- that's what it sounds like to my ears, anyway.
I used Freddie's recording as a backing track, as the one you made hasn't been uploaded yet. Since I was "playing along with Freddie", I tried to play it as close to Freddie as I could, and when the track is ready, I'll try it again with some improvisation.
Thanks, Duke!

Great lesson. And never apologise for "preaching" - I for one am a convert ; )
Seriously, I find this advice/experience incredibly helpful!
Thanks Charlie, Duke
