For these videos I mostly use a Neumann U-89 running through a DAV BG-1 preamp. It’s actually the same setup that Julian and I use when we play live.

What about those small mics from the early days (I think) of the Punch Bros.? Did you use a pickup as well?
We caught you in Lincoln and Des Moines a couple years back and it was some of the best live music I've seen.

Hi Paul, those clip on mics were Audio Technica ATM-35s. Good little microphones that we liked because they weren’t *too* good. The DPA 4099 for instance is an incredible clip on microphone, but for our purposes they were actually too detailed. We have used pickups in conjunction with the clip-ons at times. I vastly prefer using the single mic to any of that, but sometimes in combat-conditions you need to use pickups and clip-ons.
