I have been enjoying your lessons and endevouring to incorporate my understanding into my stage playing. Are there particular scales that are common to the jazz/blues style?

I know you have referred to the pentatonic scale used in blues.So this is likely what i am playing - along with flat 3rds, 7ths, 9ths etc. And, altho I have taken some Burkley - I left the program after major scale, and never studied minor scale. Most of my knowlegde is by ear.  

So, I am confident that I can copy most any lick, but would really like to improvise instead. Can you make any recommendations?
