I'm not a teacher and not a very good player but in the past i had the same problems with the bends.
I think when you put the harp deeper in your mouth, the bends (especially the bends on the 3 draw) are easyer to play, sound stronger and
have a better, richer tone. Give it a try, hopefully it helps, that was my problem with the bends and i solved it this way.
