Hi Duke, did you mean a Telecaster wih heavy (flatwounds 12/52) strings? By the way I wish you a very Happy New Year, you're doing a fantastic job here with your teaching. Will you gave us some tuitions from the Nat King Cole trio? "Sweet Lorraine " is on top of my wish list!!! Did you try the VA180 H from Vintage 47 Amps, J. Stout seems to like it a lot. I guess it could be my amp of choice
By pure chance I found a "jazz drum track brushes 150 bpm back track"( on the Tube) and it doesn't sound that faster than Duke's105bpm. How come ?it seems to fit Honeysuckle perfectly. Any suggestion on how to get some brushes back tracks are welcome! ( I can't stand the click of the metronome)
Is it possible to duplicate the movement we have in bar 20 in bar 24 ?: instead of having C7 C7 C7 C7, trying C7 F7 C7 C7 ? or is there another substitute for F7 that would work better?
I found that playing the 1st C note on the G string instead of the B string gives it more substance & "meat" so to speak ( more of a Christian flavour ).But doin' it all in the C chord pattern is also an interesting challenge; in the same way, playing the 21 / 22 bars progression on the G & D strings ( instead of B & G)seems to give it more "substance".
Keep on with that great job Duke!
I'm wondering from whom youll take the solo?Shall we have anything from the Nat King Cole Trio one of these days?
Great stuff Duke , is it the same as Benny Goodman & C.C. version? As a side note i thought that Flyin' home was maybe used as the rhythm track for "Swing to Bop",( Minton's live session). I can't wait till next week!!!
P.S. I can't wait for the melody & solo to "Stomping!"
