Hi Everyone -
This week we wrap my study of Big Walter Horton’s style in my “Horton Shuffle”. We will cover long sustained intervals, blow bends (remember high bends are done more towards the front of the mouth), “barking” 3 draws and a return to the head of the song. I made this as close to Big Walter’s style as I could imagine, especially with those heavily accented rhythmic chords in there…his attack was intense sometimes!
Enjoy putting the rest of this piece together, and I will see you next time here on Sonic Junction.
Dennis

Great stuff Dennis. I really benefited from this. Timely too, Big Walter was born this day (April 6, 1917). I appreciate your expounding on this percussive style. Really digging it.
Thanks Eric! He was a huge influence on so many players, and his technique was really amazing, with all of his dynamics, textures, range of attacks and nuances. Glad you dug it man!
