Steve, It's more of a swing/jazz thing. I don't believe I have a lesson on that one. Duke
There are so many interesting songs...is quite hard to say just one... I would really like to learn any of these;
Easin In (with Herb Ellis), Red Dog or Sunday Morning (which have a similar head or intro), They Raided The Joint...
maybe it aint necessarily so by Grant Green (i think is a masterpiece), or any of Herb Ellis Nothin but The Blues album..
Thanks
Hi Duke,
I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWTtMzCQEZI that you and Paul did at Empire Guitars of "I'm Confessing That I Love You" and just think it's fantastic! Any thoughts on doing a lesson on your version this tune?
Thanks,
Marty
Your taste is impecable - but if you're looking for suggestions how's Bill Jennings take on 'Willow Weep for Me' - or some Les Paul? Love the tune he did with Bing Crosby 'It's Been a Long Long Time' or one with Mary Ford 'I'm a Fool To Care'. Lastly (because this list could never end!) how about the version of 'Blue Moon' Julie London did? Great guitar on that (do you know who played it?) These are all beautiful tunes, but I love some deep blues like Howlin' Wolf or Muddy Waters just as much. Cheers
Wow!, Now your talking my language! Keep coming with the sugustions Charlie. You may hit on stuff I wouldn't automatically think of so as suggest as many as you can think of and I'm sure I'll do some of them. Thanks! Duke
Cool - how 'After Hours' by Bill Doggett (think it's Billy Butler on guitar), or T-Bone's 'Here in the Dark'? Or on the rawer side how about something by the 5 Royales? Lowman Pauling has a really interesting style and tone, how about their 'Say It'? Every single track on Sonic Junction is an absolute classic so I totally trust your taste and style!
Hi Duke, I'm really enjoying your choice of songs but couldn't resist the temptation to ask if Johnny Copeland is on your song-o-meter. I'm just starting to listen to him, but love his feel, it's really got a different kind of swing. There's a YouTube of him playing with SRV, but it isn't as fiery as his records.
Hi Bruce, I'll look into Johnny Copeland. Got a chance to play on bills with him quite a lot in the 80s. Duke
Hi Peter, Well of course Satchmo is the man and I'll try a fitting song. One of my favorite tunes he cut around 1930 is I'm confessin' that I love you which is a speciality of mine sort of. Duke
Hi Michael, Tiny Grimes is always a good idea! I'll rhink about which one to do first. Thanks, Duke
Hey Duke, I love Tiny Grimes. Wasn't he a big influence on Hollywood Fats?
Steve
Tiny Grimes Blues Wail is a great tune.
The piano player is doing some nice chord voicings too around 1:00 to 1:05. Would be fun to learn those too.
Thanks Eric, I will try to do some more lessons in this style. Glad it's helping you. Duke
Hi Mike, I'll this video out when I'm bot in an airport and maybe I can do,a lesson on this. Duke
I can't believe you're in love with me, When your lover has gone, Please don't talk about me when I'm gone
Any of these please.. No one explains swing like you Duke.
Thank you Sunny, I will try and get to these all. There are all great tunes and of course there are thousands of songs from that era that I would love to learn and teach! Duke
Hi Duke,
I would love if you would teach two songs by The Fabolous Thunderbirds if you would ever consider teaching them.

Duke,
I hope you'll consider doing a lesson series on Willie Johnson. The stuff he played on Wolf's first recordings can be pretty wild. I'd especially appreciate you working up "Highway Man." I've been working on it myself recently, but I'm sure you'd add a lot of insight and a fresh perspective.
Hi Duke,
The tune "The Woman I Love" by B.B. King has been one of my favorites since I picked up the old Kent album back in the early 70s in the 50 cent bin. It's not super technical, but the nuances of his playing make it so special. I don't have a 78 of it, but when I saw this video on YouTube of someone playing the 78, I remembered how much I loved it and wanted to request it for a future lesson.
Thanks!
Bruce
Hello Duke. How about a lesson on something by Tiny Grimes like Call of the Wild?
