Freddie King Shuffle > Solo, Second Chorus

Hello Friends,

This weeks lesson is on the 2nd chorus of solo for Wash Out. This chorus is mostly in second position. On my track example I improvise a solo utilizing the basic ideas that Freddy uses his solo. We have a very good track for you to play to so I'm really looking forward to hearing you all playing "Wash Out."

Enjoy!

Duke

Hi Duke,

Here's my run at Wash Out. I kept it in the same form as the original mainly because I think I could play that groove all day long :). I doubled the rhythm guitar part that you played which is also a fun groove to play. Thanks for another great lesson. These full backing tracks with bass and drums are just fantastic!

Hey Marty, You sound great on this. Very natural and comfortable with good time. I like that you are playing the basic solo but putting your spin on it also. Keep up the good work! Duke

Hey Duke! Here's my attempt. I kind of like the tone. I'm using one of those little Spark modeling practice amps and I feel like I'm playing through a Marshall stack! :-) My solo is a bit quirky here and there, but I wanted to get something down where I wasn't thinking about it too much or getting tense trying to get something mistake free, so I'm just playing to have fun and go for it. I'll be curious to hear your reaction! Thanks as always for the great lesson!

Alright Bruce, Good to hear you going for it. Really nice raw energy here! There's a nice tension that fits the tune here. Kinda has a intensity about it. Good going buddy! Duke

Hi Charlie, I really enjoyed that. You've got the feel on the Freddy licks and I'm glad you keep soloing here and it builds up very nicely! And by the 3rd solo chorus you're playing yourself which is the whole point! Good natural transit from the Freddy licks to your own. Keep up the good work! Duke

Mike Anders on guitar. This was some years ago. The tune is titled "Tall Dark Stranger!" There are words, but this is the Instrumental version. One person described it as "Raw!" I think it was meant to be a compliment! :->)

Hi Mike, Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed your playing and the sounds. Sounds like a 60s blues 45! Cool stuff. Duke
