Hello Friends,
For this week's lesson we are working on a solo for Trouble in Mind but we are also working on much more than that in the sense of putting together several different ideas for accompanying the vocal to make it intersting with various interchangeable parts depending on what you like or how you feel. That is a big part of what playing blues is all about. To be able to change your mind mid song and play what you feel or hear in your head.
As I pointed out in the lesson some guitarists have intricate arrangements but others leave it open to interpretation as they play. Both are good and fulfill their purpose. But for this I want to see you all develop some individual ideas using what I am teaching as a jump off point.
Good Luck and enjoy!
Duke

Happy Christmas Duke - and all the SJ cats!
Here's a quick/rough cut as it's been a while (I'm lousy at making these videos - it's not th playing it's the tech side!)
Looking forward to what's coming next. My band just starting playing this tune the way King Curtis does on his album of the same name - another of millions of very cool versions!
Hey Duke! Wow, I loved this lesson! So much great advice from beginning to end. And nice to hear your singing too! I especially love the discussion about how to shape the arrangement by the chord voicings, the use of 3 note chords and so forth. Can't wait to see how this develops into the electric version. Thanks again, Duke. It's hard for me to express in words how much your lessons have enriched my life, but I hope you can hear it in my playing. Best regards and happy holidays, Bruce
PS My personal feedback to myself from watching my video is: learn more turnarounds! ;-)
Man Bruce, I just love it when you sing --- and you nailed this one. Thanks for the present.
Nice job Bruce!
Hey, thanks a lot, Mike! Good to know I have a fan. :-)
And thanks Marty! I loved your version; you have a really nice facility and fluidity up and down the neck that I'm still working on.
