Hi Folks,
This week we start working on soloing on Back Home Again in Indiana. I demonstrate how to approach playing over the chords at a few slower tempos to make it clear what I am playing. I play several examples to show a few approaches. I am really looking forward to hear you playing it with the rhythm section. So please post some videos when you are ready and I'll check them out. Next I will pick a blues to study for the next set of lessons. As always looking forward to hearing your playing.
Enjoy!
Duke

Hi Duke,
Hi Bruce,
Here's the audio track in case you want to use it.
-Marty
Thanks Marty!
Hi Bruce,
Sounds real nice, Marty! You've got a smooth style that you only get after years of playing and it sounds great. Thanks a lot for the kind words and the advice regarding creating a count-in track with iReal and so forth. Take care.
Hey Duke! Great song, of course. I was heavily imprinted by the great version by Erroll Garner so it'll be an interesting challenge for me to think of it on guitar.
On the track: it's really hard to come in on the groove without a count-in, even with the drum roll setting it up. Additionally, since the melody normally begins with pickup notes, there's no time to play them. I'm just completely confused by how to come in with the melody by what's on the track.
Could you record yourself playing along with the track as provided, so I can hear how you would play over it?
Thanks!
