I find the key of C the hardest to play in...
@Corey....Thanks for introducing me to this concept of dynamics because I've never heard of it before!!!! Pretty ignorant about it!!! It's something that really makes the difference and let express more myself..I'm still workin on this tune and I'll upload something very soon but to get some good results, well, The road is long to get to the Jordan!!! :DDDD
@Alex. I used to use a thumb pick years ago, but I like you I was breaking strings a lot. I still use a metal thumb pick and fingerpick when I play resonator and I want a louder sound. For quieter songs I just use bare fingers on the resonator. For me the challenge on the resonator has always been to keep a light touch. It's easy to dig in too much and play too loud. It's all about dynamics - starting quietly and then getting louder or softer depending on what sound I am looking for.

I almost always use a thumbpick and I'm starting now to play without nothing but my fingers...It's harder and the sound is different. I can't say I prefer but I'd like to get to the point where I can choose to use it or not just for my decision and not for any kinds of skill gap!!!:DDD
Before I used to play with fingerpicks but I don't like them anymore and I realized that it was more expensive too..I was always changing the strings of my guitar!!!:DD
I'm still working on this tune...only bass and chords.....at the moment the rest for me is science fiction!!! :DDD

@Mike....yes, playing the chords and bass builds a good foundation. Like building a house. Learn the song by layers and you will get there. Also listen to the original about 20,000 times.
Hey Guys ... thanks for the encouragement and thoughts! Corey .. I will try a lighter touch and also focus on the bass. Now I'm going to move to playing the whole song through just chords and bass. It's a fun tune .. and relaxing.
Allesandro .. I've never tried a thumbpick. I should. It's funny though, I'm tending to use a regular pick less and less with time and prefer my thumb and nails. It's half I like the sound, and half I just like the feel of the strings on my fingers and fooling around with different techniques as it can change the sound so much.
My guitar is a mid level Yamaha I got 20 years ago. I've always enjoyed the tone and it's gotten better with time .. and I feel like were old friends now. It's been camping, wacked around at school, on the airplane, at home, beach ...
@Mike...you are getting it. Try a lighter touch and it will sound better. Also don't forget the bass...sometimes I am playing a damped bass that implies a line. I will try and show this next video.
