Sonic Junction - Rick Estrin back again.
This week we're going to focus on the first half of the middle solo verse in my version of "Crawlin' Kingsnake". This lesson primarily utilizes a couple variations of a lick I showed you last week - It's the lick that I told you you should be using as long as you're playing the blues on the harmonica. This week there're also some slightly subtle hand effects, and, as always, the groove is central to making it all come together.
Again, this series isn't about licks, it's about groove and adding some depth to your playing.

Ha! I've known this JLW lick for years but I didn't play it split tongued. Now that I'm doing that I started out doing exactly what you said not to do! Just sliding my tongue back and forth and losing the percussion. Thanks! The focus on keeping the groove in a solo piece is really helping me.
