Hi Friends,

This week we are finishing up Easy Baby and learning to do a fade ending. Doing a consistent decrease in volume and intensity while ending a song in a "fade to black" fadeout can be a really dramatic effect and will almost always draw an audience in as you get softer. It will sometimes even make patrons in a club realize they are talking way too loud when everyone turns and glares at them while you are trying to listen! We are very close to the end of the song here and we do a final verse with the vocal singing the same line as the guitar one more time. After the next turn around we stay on the one chord repeating the main riff over and over as we slowly and evenly as possible fade to zero. It takes a little practice to get it even but once you feel consistent with it try the fade on a gig or at a jam session and see the response. One last suggestion: When you do this sort of ending it's best to have a song ready to charge right into to keep the attention of your audience. Its a really good effect and as they say "it gets em' every time!" see you next week with a new classic blues tune.
