We're re-issuing one of Duke's most popular lessons with new sheet music, re-mastered video and updated loop points. From Duke:
For our next set of lessons we are going to explore the guitar style of Eddie Taylor. Eddie was one of my favorite Chicago blues musicians. He played and sang with great style and deep Mississippi roots. He's probably best known for his work with Jimmy Reed to most. His style was so complimentary to Jimmy's they became the ultimate blues guitar team, effortlessly blending their guitars in a way that seemingly became one. Throw in Jimmy's voice and rack style harp playing and you have perhaps the most instantly recognizable sound in modern blues history. When Eddie Taylor recorded his own material, it was much less lazy and quite a bit harder edged. His "Bad "Boy", "Big Town Playboy", Trainfare Home", "Looking For Trouble", and "Gonna Love You" are certainly among the best Chicago blues ever recorded in my opinion. His playing and singing always retained the sound of Mississippi while possessing the gritty feel of urban Chicago. Iconic guitarists from Keith Richards to Eric Clapton have made his licks part of their arsenals and soon, you will too! Lesson 1 will concentrate on signature riffs he played on Jimmy Reed records. So we don't need to spend a lot of time on rhythm. Most accompaniment is you basic Jimmy Reed shuffle rhythm so we can dig right into Eddies licks.
Enjoy! Duke
