Hi Folks, this week we start on soloing over "Fishnet." I teach most of my first position riffs that I use live on this tune. There is some interesting technique used here that involves a type of swing feel over a funky groove especially when I double time and do a rolling type pick technique over the inside four strings. I demonstrate as many licks as I could come up with in this type of pattern. I really enjoy playing this style and for more examples of this style check out Mel Brown and Melvin Sparks.

Well thank you Scott, Sorry we missed each other at Fitzgeralds. Duke
Allan, Sounds good and funky to me man! I like the sound with your fingers. Duke
oh the elusve quest for funkyness ... well I decided to try this 'finger-pickin' style because that lets me snap the strings with a little more control, but playing with a pick is definitely louder - next round I'll go at it with a pick - threw in a spontaneous tribute-to-Albert note in there - I dig your descending rolls, I'll work on articulating those more
Duke, just found out you played Fitzgeralds last Friday. That's 8 blocks from the house I grew up in and my live music stomping grounds. Man, I wish I had my act together to come and see you play. I'll have to watch your gig schedule closer.
I've been watching your Guitar Method Volume 1 DVD today. Excellent. Exactly want I need to learn. I am going to focus like a lazer beam on this material and get it into my guitar language. Was there a sequel to this? Maybe this website? There is great material here!
I am rounding up all your instructional material and settling in. I really need to learn Chicago Blues. My buddies are pushing me on stage. I am so grateful for your instruction. Your style and energy has reignited my guitar playing journey.
