Hoochie Coochie Man

Clapton Solo - First Riff

Hi everybody and welcome to this weeks video post.  I hope you enjoyed Rick's breakdown of Chicago Shuffle.  Over the next couple weeks I'm going to break down the solo I played for Hoochie Coochie Man with Eric Clapton at Hyde Park. The solo is in the Key of A played with an A Harp.  There are some previous Jimmy Reed style lessons describing how to play in first position with an emphasis on blow bends.  It would be a good idea to take a look at these and work on your technique if blow bends are new to you.  We're going to take this solo step by step and isolate small sections to make sure you get them right.   Eventually you will be able to put them all together and see some really great progress.  Have a great week.

Jerry

Jerry, I'm a relative new comer to this site and have really enjoyed your lessons over the past two months.  Thanks!

Since you asked about songs we'd like to have you to break down, I'd love to have you break down LW's "Off the wall".  I know its another instrumental but its also another classic.  On my iTunes version of the song, from 2.25 on is particularrly hard to break down.

Thanks!   Joe

Dear Jerry its so nice to have you back!! . I love the way you played with Eric Clapton I was listening to the songs sometime back and the harmonica you played is just great...in fact I was trying to learn some of the songs and work out what you played and I'm glad that you chose to teach us Hoochie-coochie man. I hope you would continue and teach us some more of what you played with Eric Clapton.

Best Regards,

Preston
