Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!
This week, after the series on guitar-focused theory, we’re going to put those concepts to work. Jessamyn’s Reel, is a very sweet tune written by Chris Thile. Part of the reason that I chose it is that it features many of the ideas that we’ve been working with in the last 5 lessons in a very clear and integral way. You can see arpeggios (G major, Am7) closed voiced triads, open voiced triads (Bm, Em), 7th chords (Cmajor7), etc. And it’s a very sweet tune! It’s not too difficult to play, but even if it’s beyond what you’re comfortable with, it’s still probably worth trying to learn so that you can apply what you’ve been learning in the rest of the series to some real music! Either way it’s back to bluegrass next week :-)
Cheers,
Chris

hello Chris!
Thanks so much for these lessons, really cool learning about arpeggios! This is my try on jessamyn's reel, a lovely tune (congratulations on the grammy also). Realize this needs some more practize to be finished, some of the parts are challenging. Looking forward to it though!
Torgeir
This really sounds good and musical Torgeir, keep working on it!
