Hi Folks,
This week we are finishing up lessons on Barney Kessel's "Salute to Charlie Christian". I hope you all are having fun with this tune so far. It's a goods one and a nice progression that's fun to play. This week Paul teaches the bridge and last A section of Barney's first solo chorus. It's a bit complex but Paul does a great job of demonstrating it and teaching it. If you listen to the record, then listen to Paul play it to the metronome it will help you understand the phrasing. Listen to Barney play it a few times then listen to Paul play it a few more times with the metronome and it will help you get the sound and groove of the solo in your head before you try and learn it. Then once you have the riffs down try and play along with Paul until it feels natural. Before too long you should be swinging.
Keep up the good work and let know how you make out.
Enjoy,
Duke

Thank you very much, André! I deeply appreciate that! I'm doing really great with my prior health issues, and just recovering from a strained wrist, so I'll be posting some videos again soon. Thanks again for the kind words and well wishes!
Wow, very nice Marty! I really enjoyed listening to it.
Thanks so much for the feedback Bruce. Glad you enjoyed it!

Here's my attempt. When I initially listened to Paul play this, I thought it'd take me years to learn all those notes! Thanks again!
Look forward to hearing it Bruce!
Great stuff! Thanks Paul and Duke. Hoping to have a video later today.
Mike -- a couple of transcriptions errors:
Bar 7 of the B section. The last note should be on the 1st string, 6th fret, not 2nd string as marked like so:
And in the 4th bar of the last A section, the last note should be on the 3rd string, 5th fret, not the 2nd string as indicated, like so:
Thanks,
Bruce
