Hi Friends,
This week we have a jam track for you of Brad and I supplying a medium tempo shuffle rhythm that works for all four choruses I have demonstrated in the T-Bone shuffle style. It's in G, one of T-Bone's most common keys. Others he seemed to favor were Bb, C and occasionally Eb. Because he worked with horns the flat keys were often used. I would truly love to hear you all play with these tracks so please post some video or audio.
Enjoy!
Duke

Hey Duke! Here's my take at this. Please let me know what you think! I'm trying my best to tell a story; not sure if it's working, but I'm trying.
Nice stuff, Charlie! You are always very musical and it's fun to hear in your playing how much this music means to you.
Thanks Duke!
Best, Bruce
Hey Bruce, Sounds great, you're getting the T-Bone feel now. I can hear a more relaxed feel in your playing which is good. It's getting more in the pocket and your riffs are vert T-Bonesque. Keep up the good work! Duke
Hey Duke! Thanks very much, that's really exciting and encouraging to hear! I felt pretty good about it, but it's so hard for me to judge my own playing and your feedback is the fuel I need. I don't care much about fame and fortune (not very much, anyway); I just want to play well. Thanks again! Bruce
Hey Bruce - thanks so much my friend (and sorry for the late 'thanks'! Only just seen your kind comment)
Thanks as always Duke. I especially appreciated the sermon (your words : ) in one of these lessons, on the importance of LISTENING. That kind of insight is invaluable to me! For the last few years I've kept a box set of T-Bone's and another of Charlie Christian's in the kitchen (these days most my listening time is cooking for the kids and doing chores!)
Here's my take. I always give you the first cut. Partly because I don't have time for a second, mostly because it's an honest reflection of where I'm at.
Also, it turns out that today (May 28th) is T-Bone's birthday (so hoping some of the talent's in the air! ; )

Hi Charlie, You are sounding very good. You are getting the point of the T-Bone feel and phrasing very well. It's funny, T-Bone is simple and complex at the same time. Like many guitarists say about Chuck Berry, that it's easy stuff. Well it's not to play it correctly! You have a good feel for T-Bone so keep up the good work. Duke
Thanks Duke! Our band opens with 'Mean Old World' but it never, ever feels right! It's exactly as you say, simple but not easy!
