Hello Friends! Here we are in Bob Marley country and it feels like a good place to be if you have a uke in your hand. In this lesson we’ll add three new ones to our bag of uke chords: the A, the D, and the E are what we’ll be using here. This tune is in the key of A and if we count up using numerals, as discussed earlier, the D would be the IV chord and the E would be the V chord. If you’ve come this far you probably won’t have much trouble with these chords. Three Little Birds is perfect Social Music, simple, soulful and mysterious. It’s helpful for me to think about the context for this song if I’m going to throw myself into it. This appeared on Bob Marley and The Wailers Exodus album which was the first release after the assassination attempt on his life in 1976. The man was going through a lot! Was he singing to himself? To Jamaica? The world? It’s a message of hope in what must have often felt like a hopeless time. Social Music at it’s best…
Dan
