Hi Folks,
For this week's lesson I am going to demonstrate some minor pentatonic ideas to put together an intro of your own. Or you can simply listen to what I am showing you and try and pick up Dave Barbour's intro. My point is I am demonstrating several simple ideas here for you to pick and choose from. I show a riff starting from the root and walking up to the 5 (A) here that can be useful playing over these changes. Also the sharp 5 to 5 change on the verse is something that can be fun to play over. I also demonstrate a few licks here that can be helpful. I show how to use the flat 5 in the minor blues which can be extremely effective also.
All this is designed to help you play you own intro, lines behind the voice and come up with your own solo also using some of these guide ideas I explain here. It will be a good test to see what you come up with between Dave's lines and what I teach you for guide lines.
Have fun with it and we will see you next week.
Enjoy!
Duke

Great to have you back Duke!
Thanks Bruce, It's coming along pretty well but I don't know if I'll ever hold my arm the natural way playing but as long as I can play well I'm happy. Duke
Thank YOU Tom, Dave was a fabulous guitarist and many great records with Peggy.
Having alot of fun with this tune . Thanks so much Duke . And thanks for turning me on to The Dave Barbour Quartet . Never knew of him , let alone being married to Peggy Lee . They have some great videos from the early 50s. Great guitar work. Thanks.
Beautiful stuff, Duke! Can't wait for the track on this one! You sound great, but I cringe for you every time I see you move your shoulder. Hope the recovery continues to go well. It's great to have you back!
Bruce
