Worried Life Blues > Soloing

Hello Folks,

This weeks lesson is on soloing on Worried Life Blues, the great 8 bar blues. I talk about different approaches of soloing on it using double stops to single string old style blues like Bill Bill Broonzy it Scrapper Blackwell. The solo consists of very simple single string lines with a few double stops to enhance it. Very traditional lines work best on this song so learn this solo as I play it then try improvising on it. Its a great classic blues so have fun with it.

Enjoy!

Duke

Hello Jean Michel, Good blues sound there. You are getting the feeling! Especially on your solo. It looks like you are playing an archtop maybe, what guitar is that? Nice bright sound. And what is the piano track you are playing with? Sorry for all the questions! My only advice would be try a bit more to stay with the pianos rhythm. I know it's hard to play with a track but it's very good training. Keep it up! Duke

Thanks for your appreciation Duke ! My guitar is an Epiphone, model Joe Pass. I love the sound of those archtops...I was playing with a track I made with  band in a box (p,b,drs). Very useful... But I had difficulties to listen to what the piano was doin' ! You saw that! Bye! JM

Hey Duke, maybe have to try this one out when your at Callahans next week. I was wondering if you ever time to meet with any of your students when you are out and about. My wife and I have tickets to your show with Jim McCarty next Saturday. Can't wait  !

Hello Jeff, I am sorry I didn't make the Callahan's show. I really wanted to be there but my doctor ordered me to stay home. I am still sick actually. To answer your question, Yes, I often meet my students at my shows and its always a pleasure. Again, my appoligies for not being there Saturday night. I heard it was a great show. Duke
