Hey Sonic Junction - Rick Estrin back again. This time we'll be breaking down verse seven of "Lightnin'". In this verse we start right out by milking every bit of flexibility out the fifth hole draw - "worrying" that note and making it soar. This verse also contains a lot of "intentional slop" or double stops, some note shaping, and a little bit of hand "fanning". There's a lot to this verse, and if you're doing it right, once you get it down, it should have a powerful emotional impact on the listener. Have fun, and I'll see you next week!
Rick
