Hi Chris,  Sorry for soliciting you again. I've started playing this tune and your Nine Pound Hammer intro with the right hand resting on the saddle/bridge. I just read that it's...

Hi Dennis, if I wanted to study some boogie type songs, what would be the first song you’d recommend at kind of a 101 12 bar blues type thing?

Hey Grant, The higher key harps have shorter reeds the higher you go, so they're stiffer and require you to have a strong "grip" on the note as you bend. You need a strong and...

Not exactly... It's the 3rd of that key. Not of the "major" or "minor" scale...just of that key. The minor scale or chord would include the b3rd (flat third) and NOT the natural...

I think this is something I don't quite understand.  It's the 3rd of the B major scale right?  So when you're on a chord, you can play any note in the scale that has that chord as...

Hey Steve. Yup, the Ebm is in bar 5 (I have it marked as Ebm7) and it is indeed the II of the upcoming Db. You could easily get away with just playing an Ab7 (dominant 7 like in...

Hello again Jerry, I seem to struggle getting the half step bends on higher key harps and was wondering if you could offer some advice?

Hey Bruce  Yes, I remember those "tonal centers" exercises from my brief Berkeley studies 100 years ago. Thanks for reminding me. Duke goes to what he describes as Ebm at bar 5....

(part 2) One of the techniques I use for soloing over a lot of chords is to think about dividing the song into "tonal centers". When the chords are all diatonic to the key, like...

Hey Steve, mind if I offer my 2 cents?  The A section actually starts on the Bb7 for one bar, Eb7 for one bar, then Ab6 for two bars. A section (first 16 bars) Bb7 | Eb7 | Ab6 |...

That note is just part of the chord (the 3rd of that scale). Unless you are playing a minor chord, that note (the 3rd) will work with any chord.
