If timing is an issue, spend some of your practice time playing with just a metronome. It is boring and annoying, but is the BEST way to help. And I would work on some rhythm playing with a metronome....thanks!
I find it really helpful to go back and watch Dennis's intro, where he is accompanied by guitar. Hearing the chord changes helps me dial in where the down beat is and where I have to place certain notes.
Yes indeed...unless I state otherwise, everyhting I play is tongue-blocked.
Keep in mind, if you don't tongue-block you can still work on the notes, patterns, etc....and then work on tongue-blocking clean single notes in separate practice time until you get it down.
Question? When you change to open E is it hard on the fret board.Great tune I'm working on it.Playing guitar keeps my 75 year old hands and fingers working but playing chords it takes work. I love this tune. thanks for being here
Depending on the guitar it can be, if it is of low quality, but most guitars should handle it well. At any rate, the stress from the strings does not affect the fretboard. Thanks for watching
Hey Boyd - have you watched the other lessons on this song? This is lesson 4. Lesson 1 called "Teaching The Song" shows the chords very clearly, including chord diagrams in the notation.
The computer I am using is a Samsung laptop. I don't have the chord diagram or the feature that I can slow it down. I have the slowing down feature still on the harmonica site and I had the slowing down feature on the guitar site for years, but on the new guitar song I don't have it. On the older guitar songs I can still control them and slow them down, but on the newer songs I cannot slow them down. When you made the tab change it makes it harder for me and you can't slow it down and it doesn't show the chords separately. That was a good feature, I am sorry it is gone.
Very nice lesson still working on it, very important lesson
Thanks Boyd!! I try to throw in valuable things to think about!
Thanks it does sound like his style great tune
I really like it. Is this a little Walter tune?
It's not any particular Little Walter tune per se, but it's definitely a Little Walter style tune
Third chorus is interesting.
thanks I tongue block without even thinging about it, great lesson learning some great stuff here. I still have hard time with timing
