You might have missed what I submitted in April...
... In the mean time, I found a gospel choir in town that I can join now and then. I think it will help me understand the music better, and of course I enjoy it very much!
Yes, joining a gospel choir is very helpful when you want to broaden your perspective about this sort of music. It is also very inspiring and uplifting!
Hello Davell! It has been a while, but I have been practicing!
I have posted below my transcripts of your Please Send Me Someone To Love. I still practice in the key of F, but I also lowered the key as you advized, so now I am working on it in two keys! Thank you in advance for your comments and guidance.
P.S. In a little while, I also plan to post my copy of James Booker playing Let Them Talk
Thank you so much, Davell!!! I am so excited to hear from you personally. What a great way to wake up on a Sunday morning in Kamakura. Looking forward to all of your advice very much! We were listening to your performance at Steinway just a few minutes ago!
Makiko...very nice connecting with you. Here are my points for the song, "Please Send Me Someone To Love".
Left hand - Good work! But in order to mantain a certain amount off feeling and control you must relax the fingers more. We were taught to arch them...but in this type of music we play with feeling. So, relax the arch in the fingers more and you'll play more freely.
Right Hand - Actually, the same thing.
Voice - Really good shot at singing and playing for yourself! Perhaps try changing the key to a more comfortable one for the voice. I can help you with that.
Later this week also send you a video example of my fingers and hands playing in the relaxed style.
