Hey Bluesnut
I build a champ from parts. Got them from Marsh. Very good step by step and support. Highly recommend Him.
Cheers
Steve
For me, every amp is a different animal (if they are tube amps) Small Fenders and Gibson amps are fabulous. Lou Rosanno of at Louis Electric in New Jersey makes the best new amps i have used. He now makes his own version of Prinstons, Deluxes and Vibroluxes. His amps are always great sounding and pack a lot of punch for there size. He builds everyone from scratch himself. Great stuff!
Duke,
I recently traded my 1966 ES-335 for a Louis Electric KR-12. I wasn't playing the 335 any more, and that amp is fantastic!
I only looked at the amp because of your recommendation, and I just fell in love with it. So thanks!
Hi Matt, Louis Electric amps are great and he can build any kind of amp you want! I love mine. Duke
Hi Duke.
As I get older, I want a lightweight amp which will give a clean, jazzy tone. My Jazzkat Tomkat amp is nice but has become unreliable. I'm now thinking of getting a Henriksen Blues 12" (same as the Henriksen jazz amps but with a Ragin' Cajun speaker).
I play band gigs and I also do solo work. I use archtops and, for louder gigs, a Strat. I understand why most guitarists swear by Fender combos, but I'm at the stage of life when I want amps that aren't heavy and bulky and give me a sound true to the instrument.
Do you ever use Henriksens or other small solid state jazz amps -- or do you always stick to valves?
Regards
Martin McNeill
Martin, The new Quilter amps are suposed to be fabulous and small and light friends tell me. Duke

I can confirm the Quilter is a great amp. I use an Aviator 1x12 on stage and on my lessons here. I still have my Deluxe Reverb and it has killer tone now that i have modified it with mercury magnetics, but it is heavy. The Quilter also has a great reverb which i can't do without.
Hi Martin, I do use solid state amps occasionally. Never tried the one you mentioned but Evans makes a cool good sounding small amp. I also use an Acousitc 100 watt 1 12" speaker amp that is inexpensive and sounds very good for jazz. It's pretty light also. Duke
Thanks,Duke.I've now decided to forget trying to get a small jazz amp and buy a Fender Deluxe Reverb instead.
FYI that Duke used a stock 65 deluxe reverb reissue for the Blues A Rama and Swingin the Blues series of lessons.
Watch the cap's (capacitors, the blue ones) if you go with a DRRI, they can leak and break down very quickly. I would hope the newer models have fixed this.
Hi to everyone,
Still trying to find the amp tthat will emulate the original HE 150(?) that was sold alongside the Charlie Christian es 150, any indication will be welcome!
Benard, All early Gibson amps are great and unique sounding up until the late 50s in my opinion. If I see a 150 I'll let you know. Duke
Thanks Duke, I tried one when I was visiting N.Y last October, today they seem around 2000$ which is way too much 'cause I'll have the shipping fees & 20% for french VAT! & noone knows what it's like before trying it. I might get in touch with Skip Simmons when I'm ready to pull the trigger he seems quite knowlegeable. Still trying to figure out "Volare " from the Poll Winners Ride Again". I'm new to your Junction, you're doing a helluva job! Thanks a lot & get well soon. Bernard
