Hi Folks, This weeks lesson is the head to Albert Collins Backstroke. It's a great shuffle to play at jam sessions and a lot of fun. We learn how to play it and still get that Albert sound in standard tuning. Also I play it with my thumb to get the real Albert tone. It's a great tune and I demonstrate how to play his style on the head here. There are little tricks that make it sound like his tone with muting, pull offs etc.

@Duke...it's only the first verse...I'm not very good in soloing...I've never tried to do it seriously as I'm focused on learning acoustic blues and for this reason I don't have an electric guitar...So for me vibrato, pull off etc are almost new things...for example...I've always been convinced that bending is a movement goin up while here you do it goin down too...If you have any suggestions even in very basic things like how to do a nice bending..vibrato etc...that would be really appreciated by me! :))

Hi Peter, You got the notes but your track is a different groove. More of a straight R&R groove than a shuffle. Try it with my track when it's posted. The flow of the rhythm is important but it sounds cool with your rhythm also. Duke
Hi Duke, thanks for this one. Albert is one of my all time favorites! Listening my recording I notice my timing is off, which is my typical problem. I had to do the second verse twice and I keep forgetting the end of it and had to make something up for the last 2 bars of the second verse.

The head reminds me a bit of Lightnin Hopkins All Night Long. I like the position on the I chord. I don't play there much and it's fun to explore. Thanks Duke!
