Hello Folks,
This weeks lesson is about improvising on Blue Harlem and we also learn the out chorus riff with call and response ending. I discuss and demonstrate several techniques that are essential to sounding in this style of period guitar. Slight bends, double stops, hammer ons, and trills help you sound period correct along with phrasing using the 6 and 9ths in your harmonic solo construction.
If you follow my advice here and work on these things using my demonstrations as a guide you should easily start to fall into the 40s style phrasing. And remember listening to period guitarists with also help implant this style in your head. So work on this and let's see some videos showing us your stuff.

Hi Duke! Well, I think I'm starting to get the hang of this. I hear that I'm just starting to rush at the end of my solo into the last chorus, but not way overly like before. It's hard to remember not to use vibrato now that I can finally do it. ;) Anyway, I've sure learned a lot working on this song! Thanks for all the wisdom and inspiration, Duke!
