Hi Friends, This weeks lesson is the final lesson for Chitlins Con Carne. Since I gave away most of my bag of tricks for this tune last week we Review the tune adding the correct 1 chord (C7#9) as some of you pointed out. I demonstrate some more solo ideas with a few of Kenny's riffs thrown in and a few more of my own also. There is an extended track for you to play along with with a chorus of the head then several choruses of rhythm to play over.
Enjoy! Duke

Hi Duke,
Can I play those 6/9 chords over minor progressions? It sounds right and there is no 3rd in them. The 13 chords are only for major progressions im assuming.
Thanks! these open up so many doors for me and im sure a lot of other people. Great stuff!
J
Hi Jason, Yes if it sounds good to you then use it on minor. We need to use our own ears on these sort of things. I have challenged schooled players that sometimes disagree with me and end up agreeing with me when then they use there ears instead of going by a school book rule.
Thanks Duke and Mike.
Under your fine tutelage I strive for my playing to continue to grow. And yes, the L5 is a beautiful instrument - I read that it can get you an audition, but you better have the goods to back it up. I'm working on it.
I have been recording lessons using my computer's on board mic and camera. I plan to use a separate mic for future lessons hopefully the sound quality will improve.
Cheers
Steve
Thank You Steve, much appreciated. You are doing great! Duke
Hey Steve, Very good, you certainly are picking up the essense of the tune and I really enjoyed it. On my phone it sounded like a fuzztone so I am really glad I listened to it on my computer! Great job, Duke
Kenney Burrell very cool.
