It's Rick Estrin, and this week I'm back on Sonic Junction with verse 6 of this "Lockdown Shuffle".
This verse might be my favorite one of the song. It's all about settling into the groove and flow. There's some subtle, and some not as subtle, push/pull groove enhancers around the second and third holes, as well as an abrupt, left-field partial 7th chord thrown in to keep the people paying attention. On the V chord, this verse offers a good opportunity to dial in your ability to seamlessly flow through some half step and whole step bends on the second and third holes. As always, I'm trying to provide you with tools that'll help you express your own ideas when the time comes.
Have fun, stay in the pocket, and I'll see you next week.
Rick
