Hey Sonic Junction -
Rick Estrin here, and this week we've got the first portion of the second 12 bars in the solo section of "You Don't Love Me That Way". We start out this week with that little attention grabbing, stab on the 6 blow, and move into a rhythmic build using the 2/5, partial 7th chord. After that, we cut to a more radical, major attention grabber - It's a tongue rolling trill on the 9th hole, blow. It can be a real cool device, but unless you're Sonnyboy, it should probably only be used occasionally. And again, all this stuff needs to be rhythmically right on time - as deep in the groove as you can get, and employing the most buoyant feel you can give it!
Have fun. Take care and, I'll see you next week.
Rick
