Thank you Larry !! English is not my first language and i m not sure to really understand the "essence" of your comment ... I understand that I have to play with less effort and I will ... so if it s not too much ?? could you write it in another way because I really want to understand and I really appreciate that you take time to comment ... Have a good day !!
Hey Manuel !! don t force it ... stay relax ... it will come , for Sure ... and later it will help because there so many things you will do with tongue block ... you ll see !!
Hi Manuel !! to answer your question , I will say that you Should pratice bending with tongue block ... to me , you have no choice if you want to get deeper in you playing , and for instance there a couple of Rick Estrin song on the Site ... that if you Realy want to groove and be able to have a good "grip" on the phrasing , you should bend with tongue block ... practice slowly bending wilth tongue block , and the "control" will come , it did to me !! ... hope it s gonna help ??
Hi Andre, thanks a lot for the prompt reply and your thoughts. Now I know what to do for the next weeks, months... ;-) Great, entering a new terrain... my harps and me, we are ready for this journey! I am looking forward to it.
Hi Rick !! I d like to know ?? when you do the "ghost" note on the 3 hole blow at 1 min 7 sec is it tongue block or purse lips ?? I think at different place in the lesson you do it tongue block and some time purse lips ?? does it matter ?? I d like to know for the "effect" is it better to do it tongue block ?? i d like to have your tought on this ...
Hey Andre - It was great seeing you in NY! One of the important keys to feeling the groove is relaxation. You can work on your groove by practicing something simple - something where execution is no problem at all. You already have a good tone, so try playing very simple stuff and make it sound even better by putting it as deep in the groove as you can.
I didn t know that was that hard to play and be in the "groove" or instead to know where I am in the song ... I mean , lately I started to play and follow the 12 bar and counting the beat ... to me just be able to play and be able to follow the beat with my 2 feet ... it s a real challenge ... but I will continue , and now I know what you mean to be ahead or on or behind the beat ... and your really amazing on that !! ... you re often start a beat ahead ... anyway it s a process ... and i will be there soon !! like always ... was a treat to see you Perform Rick !!
Hi Dennis !! i m not sure to understand ... but I will watch "Buffle off to Shuffalo " ... I think that maybe I will get an answer there ... Thanks again
Hi Dennis !! thanks again ... it make sense , but , when you say "the more you practice with a metronome just platying rhythm" ... maybe an akward question but ; what do you mean by "rhythm" ?? could you give me an exemple in this particular song , because when i play the song with metronome ... I play the "whole" song ... hope my question s clear enough ??
by the way , so far , I improved a lot and really love it !!
Hi - what I meant was talking about practicing rhythm playing. Playing a shuffle rhythm on harmonica to entire jam tracks. Practicing playing rhyhtm harmonica, as one would practice playing rhythm guitar (as opposed to lead guitar and solos). Just playing rhyhtm...no solos, no licks, no riffs.
Hi Dennis !! when I watch you play ... you start with counting 1,2,3,and 4 ,like counting the beats , and when you play i can see your head and body still counting , are you able to ... even when you play , count in your head and know exacly on what beat you are ?? it would make sense to me if i m able to do that , i ll be able to do the chord progression 1,4,and 5 , on the 12 Bar and know exactly where I am during the whole song ...
Yes!! That is totally the idea. I strongly recommend to practice sometimes counting the beats along to songs WITHOUT playing, just so you can always get the feel of where the beats and bars are. The more you do this, and the more you practice with a metronome just platying rhythm, the better your sense of timing becomes.

Thank you Rick !! I will pay close attention on the 3rd hole

Wow ... The Groove or the Rhythm ... I don t know loll ... but the way that Verse is constructed ... so good !!
it make sense !! But you do it so subtle that I thought at some place it was pursed lip ...
thank you Rick!!

I'm tongue blocking it. I can't think of anywhere in the song where I would lip that 3 hole blow. It wouldn't make sense to switch.
sorry Rick , my explanation yesterday was wrong about to be ahead , on , and behind the beat
