Hey Duke! I'd never heard of Floyd Smith, but I came across this great video of him with Bill Doggett. I think he's pretty amazing.

Here's a link to the video. It doesn't work in MIke's YouTube tool, because it's on vimeo.com.

Hi Mike:

Yes, it works now. Thanks.

Now, just another thought. I came to Davell from the harp side of things - I've been trailing Jerry, Rick and Dennis for a couple years now, and keep up and learn from their sites. These guys have been invaluable to me. I could have never gotten to where I am on blues harp without these guys. Will I still also be receiving their weekly lessons?

If it's not possible, I can adapt.

Thanks for all your work, Mike. As said, I'm a big S-J fan.

Thanks, Eric

Hi Eric --- you're right --- thanks for letting us know about the issue.

All fixed.

Can you let me know if it works for you now?

Thanks and enjoy Davell.

Hey Mike:

My compliments on the direction SJ is going. To my thinking Davell Crawford is a great addition. For a sheer piano newbie, he's often way over my head. But that's a good thing. Makes me stretch and learn. I wanted to learn the real music ... And fast. Just the thing.

now my prob. Not a big one, but the last 2 lessons were not posted to my site. I didn't know they existed until I saw the lessons on What's New. Can this be resolved?

thanks, Mike. Keep up the good work.

Best,

Eric

I have a recommendation to put the lesson order of associated lessons in the title of the iphone app.  For example, in Chris Eldridge's lessons, there is a specific order for the lessons and they tend to grow on the previous lesson.  When downloading lessons to the iphone app, without first looking at the site, there is no way to know what order the lessons should occur.

Hi Duke,

My name is Steve, Im looking to start up some on line lessons with you.. My question is,  is there a certain level of play/knowledge of music/blues

that I should have before starting?  are there different levels of lessons and how do I know where to begin?

A little backround on myself, I began playing at 16 years old in 1986. as a product of the 80s rock scene, like everone at the time I was an eddie van halen wanna be.. after about 15 years of playing rock covers and such, I was introduced to two good friends and very influential guitarists that

changed my way of thinking, playing, practicing and listening to music..  Bruce Bartlett and the late Joe Vellucci..   Joe spoke very highly of you and introduced me to many artists that I hadnt even known exhisted, Including yourself in the roomful days..  freddie king, albert collins, albert king and of course Tbone

Bruce I had taken some lessons from, as well as become good friends had taken me to better levels of play as well. this was all back around 2000.

these days Im interested in blues quite a bit, though I feel Ive gotten a bit better in time, feel and a little phrasing, I feel that taking leesons from a blues master as yourself would get me moving forward much better.

Im pretty comfortable with 12 bar blues but far from where I want to be..(arent we all I guess), I feel like I want to strat doing some open mic nights but, really dont feel confident enough in the blues language to take the plunge..

I know key signatures and major/minor pentatinic scales, some basic blues chords enough to get around but, would like to do more with what I have..

looking forward to speaking with you,

    Steve

Hello Corey,

I just wanted to express my thanks for your music.  You've had a profound affect on me as a musician and as a person.  Learning from your style cuts through all egotistical tendies and demands that be yourself fully.  A rarity in the genre of country blues these days.  Keep on keepin' on!

Steve

P.S. A track from an EP my little group in Colorado has put together in light of this changing world, you may notice some familiar licks :)

Hi Frank --- welcome back.  The Blues A Rama and Swingin The Blues lessons are in an older format that doesn't support full screen mode.  We plan to update these lessons to the new format this summer.

Hello Corey,

Been wondering if you would consider some reggae or contemporary lessons of your stuff like blu.black style?

Thanks.
