Hello Friends,
This week we are finishing up Driftin' Blues and since I have a shoulder issue this week, our man Scott is going to write out the tab for the last two choruses of the song for you. I spend my time talking about forties style blues guitar and the development of the single string solo style from the early acoustic guitarist like Lonnie Johnson and Eddie Lang up to Charlie Christian, T-Bone and many more. I also talk about the electric guitars popularity beginning in the Southwest.
Enjoy!

Hi gang - came across a really great article about Oscar Moore and the Fender Telecaster http://amodernist.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/oscar-moore-and-fender-1951.html Thought some of you might enjoy it...
Hello Duke! I finally got around to recording myself a piano/vocal track to play to. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you have on this one. It's such a great tune, and it's been a real education learning these riffs! Best wishes on the shoulder. Thanks, Bruce
Get well soon Duke! Thanks for taking the time to share this history - beautiful stuff! Some of those names I've known and loved for years (especially Eddie Lang), others I'd never heard of before. There's nothing of Mary Osbornes on Amazon - going to have to hunt her down (thanks Bruce for sharing such great footage).
Where (if anywhere) does Django fit in this family tree for you?
I hope the shoulder feels better soon, Duke! Thanks for all of the very interesting and informative comments.
Thanks to youtube, so much of the music you mentioned is available. Was the Lonnie Johnson/Eddie Lang tune called "Bull Frog Moan"? That's a very cool one that's on youtube. And there's tons of great Carl Kress and Dick McDonough.
And here's terrific *live* footage of Mary Osborne! What a great guitar player!
Bruce, Thanks so much for finding that Mary Osborne clip and putting it up here. It's probably the best I've heard her! Duke
Ohhh...EEE...!!!
I just bought me a brand new Dean Palomino Hollow Body Electric guitar in Gloss Natural finish with case for $460.00 incl. tax.
It's the exact same design at T-Bone Walker's main squeeze with the tripple P-90's...! Sounds great and plays beautifully...!!!
Now... I'm a Man of The Blues...!!!
(((BIG SMILE)))
Those are really nice guitars Tom. Enjoy, Duke
Hello Duke, take care of you and good restoring.
André
Thanks Andre, I plan to do everything in my power to be back soon. Duke
