Thanks, I really love B.B. King, his vibrato is amazing. Learning some great stuff on this site, it is really brilliant.

It would work just like it does now however it would have seperate lists like subtitles for each teacher/instrument. When you go to add a lesson to your practise list it would add it to the list under the aprropriate teacher. Next time you pick up the acoustic you can see clearly what there is to practice. I am not saying the practice list is bad, it is very good, but I just had an idea to make it even better.

Thanks,

J

Hi Steve --- thanks for letting us know.  The detail is great (browser, OS).

Confirmed that we have reproduced the issue and have a fix in progress.  It turns out the bug affects our webcam recorder as well.

Thanks for your patience.

Mike,

The "Upload Video / Audio" link seems to be broken. I've tried to upload a pre-recorded video into a Sonic Junction comment and just get a never ending "loading uploader" message. I get the same problem in both Firefox and Chrome in the Windows operaring sytem.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Jamie,

Great to have you a part of Sonic Junction!  Yeah, I remember the first time someone lent me a B.B. King - Live at the Regal I had a similar experience of being blown away.

Looking forward to learning with you at Sonic Junction.

Mike

Hi Jamie --- thanks for the feedback.

Can you tell me a bit more about how you would use the multiple list?

Thanks.

Hi Jerry,

I usally play guitar but I also want to start the blues harp. I am not sure which key and what brand and I am very confused... I know that if the song is in E you play an A harp, but that is about it. Can you fill me in with some info/advice on how many keys I need and what brand e.c.t?

Thanks,

J

Great lessons Duke; and very beautiful guitars.

I would like to know whats your choice of strings (roundwound or flatwound) and gauge when playing swing or blues style,

do you use different gauge on each guitar?

what kind of string with es175? with es335 or les pauls?  with the James Murphy archtops?

regards

Hi!

My name is Jamie and I love all types of blues, most jazz and some rock. I remember listening to Blues for the first time... It was buddy guy  (I accidentally cliked one of his songs on spotify...) as mustang sally boomed through the speakers I was blown away by the groove that couldn't stop you from dancing in your seat. Then I found B.B. King, I was blown away again. Soon I found Robert Johnson and acoustic blues. I still can't understand how one can sing and play guitar like that at the same time... Amazing.

I also love sonic junction, It brings people together while teaching you techniques, structures and methods while also learning a song at the same time.

I love parlour size guitars with spruce tops and mahogany back and sides. I like steel of brass resonators with tricone or single cone. As far as electrics go I like SG's, teles and Strats, amongst many others. I love fender, vox or marshall amps.

One last thing, I have a tendency to use elipsis all the time... Damn I did it again!

Thanks,

J

Hi,

I was just thinking that it would be really helpful to have seperate practise lists for different teachers?

It would make the practise list really easy to use... even easier than before!

Thanks,

Jamie H.

Hi Jim --- thanks for the note.  We don't support downloading of backing tracks now, but will consider it for a future release.  I undersand your use case and it makes sense.

FYI that we are also looking at applying the "slow downer" to the backing tracks --- so that you can play and practice with them at varying speeds.

Hi Mike,

Maybe this has been covered somewhere already, but is there any way to get the backing tracks in some sort of a format with a link or whatever so I can load them into Garageband and use them for recording?  That way I can play them back with me as the harp player.  Being an intermediate 60 year old player, I don't think that I will end up stealing any of Jerry or Rick's gigs. A song like RIck's Chicago Shuffle is very specific in length and you can't really purchase a backing track on-line that would work.

Thanks,

Woody

Not if it helps you perform the technique correctly. When you say you're "touching" the note, I don't quite understand. I assume you're lip pursing so that the hole out of which you're playing the note is clear and unblocked by lips or tongue.

Whaetever technique works for you is fine as long as you're producing the desired sound.

Hi Duke

I have been enjoying your lessons and endevouring to incorporate my understanding into my stage playing. Are there particular scales that are common to the jazz/blues style?

I know you have referred to the pentatonic scale used in blues. So this is likely what i am playing - along with flat 3rds, 7ths, 9ths etc. And, altho I have taken some Burkley - I left the program after major scale, and never studied minor scale. Most of my knowlegde is by ear.

So, I am confident that I can copy most any lick, but would really like to improvise instead. Can you make any recommendations?

@ Harry Roullier...thanks I am glad that the lessons are working out for you.  Yes the alternating bass is not easy at first but soon it will be second nature.  Thanks for listening to the music all these years.

Just checking again - any London blues players want to get together and try this stuff out? I have a great rhythm section we can jam with, and some horns. But I'd love to meet another guitar player who's into this stuff that I can trade licks with, swop rhythms etc. Hit reply and we can hook up - lots of good places to play, but not many good people to play with, so I'm hoping I'll find you here...

Oh and would love to see the B section (i've always struggled with it)

Great stuff - keep 'em coming. If you're looking for requests how about other beautiful tunes like 'Come Rain or Come Shine', 'Love Letters' or 'I'll Be Seeing You'? You guys have perfect taste so anything's good

Hi Bruce, I'll look into Johnny Copeland. Got a chance to play on bills with him quite a lot in the 80s. Duke

Hi Duke, I'm really enjoying your choice of songs but couldn't resist the temptation to ask if Johnny Copeland is on your song-o-meter. I'm just starting to listen to him, but love his feel, it's really got a different kind of swing. There's a YouTube of him playing with SRV, but it isn't as fiery as his records.

I read a review about the Hohner Rocket. I live in Barcelona so can someone please tell me how much they are compared to the Special 20, and if they have any experience with them.

Thanks,

Mike

I saw a few reviews about the Hohner Rocket harmonica. I'd like to know if anyone has experience with it, and their opinion. I live in Barcelona, so if anyone can tell me how much they cost compared to the Special 20. I can order the harmonicas from Germany, but I have to order several to defray the shipping costs.

Thanks,

Mike Shannon

Cool - how 'After Hours' by Bill Doggett (think it's Billy Butler on guitar), or T-Bone's 'Here in the Dark'? Or on the rawer side how about something by the 5 Royales? Lowman Pauling has a really interesting style and tone, how about their 'Say It'? Every single track on Sonic Junction is an absolute classic so I totally trust your taste and style!
