Hi Mik,

Just about everybody plays by sound and feel. Having good technique, however, gives you the tools to more precisely translate what you hear in your head to what comes out of your instrument.

First let me say thanks to you Jerry for shareing your insite and wisdom with us. I have played of and on for about 46 years and never even thought about toung blocking or any tech stuff for that matter don't even play by hole numbers. Do you Jerry know harp players who play by sound or feel I geuss you could call it.Most times I just play by what I think the harp should be sounding like for the music being played.Hope this makes sense Thanks Mik

Corey,

How do you write your songs? In particular, how would you create the chord progression?

I wrote some lyrics for a song. I would call it sort've a reggae song, but I don't know how to create a chord progression to accompany the lyrics. Any advice?

Thank you,

Kurtis

That would be great. Sounds like something that would be really useful.

Thanks Mike

Hi Bill --- we're going to be working on different ways to organize and present the lessons.  It's early, so we're not settled on the mechanism and/or design.  Sometimes people refer to it as "learning paths" --- other people break things up by level and/or genres of music.

Enjoy Duke!

Thanks Mike. Yes, that's very helpful. I'll check those lessons out. What do you mean by having the site answer questions like this?

Hi Steven --- sounds good.  We will be releasing a new build in the next couple days.

I will send you an email invite to the Beta via TestFlight (iOS Beta service recently purchased by Apple) today.

Thanks.

Great tune!  First time I've heard it.  Would love to learn this one.

Hi Bill --- good question.  We're going to be working on having the site answer questions like this early next year.  Two lesson series that I think will give you a solid foundation are:

How Long Blues

Blues After Hours

The tempo of both tunes is nice and they introduce a lot of concepts Duke gets into in other lessons.  After that, you may want to check out

Take a Little Walk with Me

That's Alright

I hope that helps and enjoy Duke.

Hi Steven --- you can find Pony Blues here:

http://www.sonicjunction.com/lessons/pony-blues-intro

I think what may have been going on is that Pony Blues was not yet on Corey's Artist hub page.  That has been updated.  I removed your similar question on Preaching Blues --- so we keep the conversation in one place.

If you have any further question or issues, please feel free to post them here.  Thanks for being a part of Sonic Junction.

This morning..i swore i watched a new lesson by Mr. Harris "Pony Blues'.

When i went to practice the lesson this afternoon the lesson was gone from the site.

Was it a dream? or did a gremlin eat it?

Hi Duke,
Do you recommend taking your lessons in chronological order or is it okay to take them in any order? I'm  an intermediate player.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Harry --- thanks for the message.  Sounds like we may have an issue with re-recording videos with the webcam recorder.  We will investigate it and let you know the results.

If you have a video that Corey missed, please let us know via Contact Us and we will make sure he gets it on the next round.  We're working on a better way to track videos in the future.

For the Mic issue --- it really depends on your setup and your amp.  Acoustic setups should work fine.  It would be great to see an example video so I can give you a better answer.

Thanks.

I am also having problems with distortion. I have turned the mike down as low as it will go and its really breaking up. It did this once before and then everything was ok at a later date. I was thinking of wraping the mike with something. any ideas would help.

Thank you

When I try making a video if I decide I don't like the take and go to re-record when I try to post it takes hours and then I just give up. I have to shut down the page and come back. When making a first take it normaly works the first time and posts instantly. Also I have a question about posting. When posting on an older lesson, do I need to put a note for Corey on the current lesson so he will find it?

Thank you

Hi Craig --- glad you are enjoying Jerry.  Yes, it's great to have Ricky King Russell a part of Sonic Junction.  We just published a lesson today "How Long Blues" where Rick plays the backing track.

Hi Alex --- great question.  It was actually missing.

I have just updated all of the San Ho Zay lessons.  You should now see the backing track right under the webcam recorder on the top right side of the screen.

Thanks for pointing this out and enjoy Duke!
