Best advice is for you to tweak away...all knobs are meant to be turned from 0 to 10 (or 11, if you like Spinal Tap).

It's better to spend the time yourself experimenting than asking others what they do. This way, you will evolve into a more personalized amplified tone.

However, for harmonica, I might suggest setting tone controls straight up at first, and then backing off on the highs as you play. This is a good starting approach.

What a great reply Larry! Thank you so much. I imagine the amp and mic can be like instruments in and of themselves, so I imagine they require similar time and attention. And I like the approach of Jerry and Rick, in that they want you to develop your ear so they don't give you tabs.

With that in mind, I haven't given playing with an amp much time at all. I figure my playing the harp should be developed first. But Rick's performance with this number includes the amp/mic, so I've begun to think about giving it a try.

For now, I will spend some time tweaking away:) Thanks again.

Hello Jerry or Rick (or others),

Could either of you offer some general guidance for setting up and amp? I have a Vox modeling amp and I've played around with it a little, but would enjoy a discussion on amp settings. I have an out of the box red howler mic FYI. Thanks so much.

Hi Char --- the Android App will likely be towards the end of the year.  We want to focus on the iPhone and iPad until we have a great experience and then copy it to Android.  Would be great to have you a part of the Adroid Beta.

Wish you all the best.

Hi Char --- glad you like the idea.  Yes, we plan to make make an Android App as well.  We know a lot of people have Android devices and they are growing in number (especially Europe).

We will likely not make Apps for the other mobile operating systems as the number of people that have them are relatively low --- and tend to be shrinking.  The one exception may be the Kindle --- we will have to see.

All the best and thanks for being a part of Sonic Junction.

A frequent request this year is being able to watch lessons anywhere, anytime, with or without an internet connection. We heard you and have been working hard to make this happen.

Today we're pleased to introduce the Beta Test of the Sonic Junction iPad and iPhone App.  Now, any lesson on your practice list can be sync'd and stored automatically to your iPad and/or iPhone.

We're looking for a small group of members to Beta test this new App.

The purpose of the Beta Test is to:

1. get feedback on the design and functionality of the App

2. find and resolve issues

To be part of the Beta you must:

1. be a member of Sonic Junction

2. have an iPad or iPhone running iOS 7

3. have time over the next 4 weeks to thoroughly test the App

4. provide weekly email feedback and complete an end of Beta questionnaire

If you're interested in being part of the Beta, please email me directly at: mike@sonicjunction.com

If you have questions or suggestions about the App, please feel free to post them here.

Looking forward to your thoughts and feedback,

Mike

Hi Duke,

I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWTtMzCQEZI that you and Paul did at Empire Guitars of "I'm Confessing That I Love You" and just think it's fantastic! Any thoughts on doing a lesson on your version this tune?

Thanks,

Marty

One more in Lession One of Flying Home... in the A Sections the last beat of the first two lines is a Bb7. It is sort of obvious but it should be added to the tab. Regards, Ted

Some tab errors I noticed in Duke's "Flying Home" lessons.

In  Lesson One (chords)  the chord diagram for the last chord of the B section is incorrect. the top three notes need to move up one fret.

In Lesson Two (head) all the notes on the first string should be fret 6, not fret 7

In Lesson Three (introduction) the second and third notes in line four should be on the third string not the second string.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Corey. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I really enjoy when you play that song, but I couldn't ever figure out anything that sounded close until I watched and practiced trying to play a bunch of your tutorials on this site.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the message.  We don't have a backing track for Blues After Hours.

Duke and I will look into getting one made.  I should have an update for you in a couple days.

Thanks for being a part of Sonic Junction and letting us know how we can make it better.

Mike

Does anyone have a backing track that you think would work with this song?

Am now living in SE Coastal GA, between Jacksonville and Savannah. Trying to get a busboy job on the blues cruise or for the Las Vegas Casinos for that 4 day Blues Extravaganza show coming up in the fall.

The mic is an Astatic JT-30...at least the shell is. I'm pretty sure it's a regular Astatic 151 crystal element inside.

The amp is an old tweed Fender Champ = The gold standard for good tone at low volume.

Hope to see The Iceman whenever we get back to FLA - Regards to Vicki, and thanks for coming on the site!
