Mike this is the best video ever uploaded here in sonic junction....father and son..wow!!! :DD Next time, if possible I'd like to see both in the video.....:)))
why don't your son try to play some kind of african drum behind you? I mean djembe or pumpkins....that is the kind of percussion I think is played on 44 blues :)))
@Corey....I'd need an advice if possible....the guy who is organising the blues fest at Nureci called me proposing to play behind to others while they are reading poems I thinks....and obviously play something by myself too....anyway I've never done a thing like this....how do you suggest me to prepare for this kind of show? I'm not very good in doin instrumental music....should I for example just go to youtube and give a look at videos with somebady reciting and play on it?!?!?!!?!?
I'm doing this the 16th of August too....Are you goin to play also some tunes in solo or just with your band? :))
@Corey...thanks..I like this one...It sounds like an African traditional Djembe rythm with all the 3 differents sounds...base tom and slap, isn't it? :))
yes Mike...It is what I'm tryin to do...I'm really interested in the right hand tech rather then be fast with the left...A lot of people are fascinated by those guys who move fast on the neck...but me, I like those strange things and sound you can create by using properly the right hand....it's the base...if you work wrong with the right then everything will sound bad..I think that the most important swithces for me were to avoid use of the pick and start picking the strings on the neck of the guitar...and also that brushes similar to the flamenco rasqueado...and the way to hold the slide....very usefull and keyfull teachings...thanks you Corey for this!!! :))
@Mike....great video..:)) We have improved a lot since the beginning of our journey...isn't it? :)))) Corey's advice reminded me a lot what my african friends used to tell me when I started to play Djembe....I used, like many others, to put my hands on the drums and try to make some kind of rithm...one of my friends, Makhtar who actually is like a brother for me told me that first I had to sing the rithm and only after try to do something on the djembe....and I like this didattica :)))
@Corey Thanks...the first lick is preatty hard..expecially that sliding part on the beginnning..It seems easy but It isn't...boh!!! I was trying to sing on it....difficoult to remain in tempo...it reminded me when I used to sing while I was playing djembe on the same time :))) I haven't found the original version of BLJ....
By the way,,,are you goin to teach us Special Rider? It's one of my favourite!! I did something with your lesson on homespun but with Sonic Junction will be different for sure....:)))
@Corey...you're right...it's to fast....first and second lick are preatty difficoult for me...especially the transition from first to second....also that solo on the V...I can't find BLJ version on youtube....
Just a question which is not about this tune...Is it TRUE that you're coming to Sardinia on August to plat at Nureci Blues Festival? :))
@Corey...here's my video...It's just a hit to say that I'm still here...I haven't practiced a lot..What I'm workin on is the position of the right hand tryin to mute the strings properly..I'm liing a lot to play on the fret and move behind when I play the bass notes...:)
@Mike....here in Bologna quite well....we had to face two heavvy earthquakes as you maybe have heard..In the province there has been a lot problems..entire villages destroyed and a lot of people had to leave their houses...It's really a bad situation but no problems in the place where I live...:))
Yes this tune is similar to everybody ought to change...this is the reason why I can get something of it...in general I find it more difficoult...exspecially the slidin part on the 4th and the solo on the 5th...Is tough for me to have that clear sound...also that bending..

@corey you are my favourite!!! :DDDD....In Italian we have also this sayin come from a famous artist, Adriano Celentano...Chi non lavora, non fa l'amore....Who doesnt't work, don't make Love!!! :DDD...Thanks for caring about your students!!! :))
My interview about sonic Junction is on air...It's in Italian so I don't know how much you can get...Maybe Corey you could understand something because you also speak french...Just click on "ascolta puntata" and the download of the podcast will start...I sento to Massimo three songs ..2 of them are Everybody ought to Change and Catfish...the other is one of my favourite....Preachin Blues (Up jumped the Devil)
Jeff I think you are on the right way...I think too that play this kind of blues style is almost impossible with a flat pick...Just have fun...this is the most important thing..and on your side you have a great passion on the blues...I can feel it!!! :))
Mike...good job...We are improving, aren't we? We made a lot of progress since the beginning of our journey with corey into the acoustic blues...
No Worries Jeff we have a lot of time here and we're all students...the best thing I think is to walk step by step..moreover I'm sure that Corey is goin to find the key and right words to help you in finding your own way and style...well, at least this is what's happenin to me...:)
Just a question if it's not a problem...you said that flat pick is not your choice? Is this true? sorry I'm italian so sometime I don't understand very well english :)
@corey...here's my last video....I've tried also to sing...It made me smile too :)))
what is more difficoult for me with this tune is put that accent on the E Chord
@Mike....please post a video whre you are singin too...Don't leave me alone!! :DD
