Thanks Duke! Funnily enough I've been trying to study another Jimmie classic 'Ludella', but this one is one of my all-time favorites! Looking forward to diving deeper.
Wishing you a very happy new year - see you in the 20's : )
PS I wanted to share this with you. Wrote and recorded a Christmas song. Sharing with you because I couldn't play a note of this if it wasn't for you! Hope you like it - very merry Christmas to you and yours : ) https://www.facebook.com/BigMamasDoor/videos/2555670014679152/
Lovely! Thanks Duke, always loved this tune. The versions I'm most familiar with are by Louis Armstrong and Tony Bennett's (also enjoy George Harrison's uke : )
Thanks as always Duke. I especially appreciated the sermon (your words : ) in one of these lessons, on the importance of LISTENING. That kind of insight is invaluable to me! For the last few years I've kept a box set of T-Bone's and another of Charlie Christian's in the kitchen (these days most my listening time is cooking for the kids and doing chores!)
Here's my take. I always give you the first cut. Partly because I don't have time for a second, mostly because it's an honest reflection of where I'm at.
Also, it turns out that today (May 28th) is T-Bone's birthday (so hoping some of the talent's in the air! ; )

Hi Charlie, You are sounding very good. You are getting the point of the T-Bone feel and phrasing very well. It's funny, T-Bone is simple and complex at the same time. Like many guitarists say about Chuck Berry, that it's easy stuff. Well it's not to play it correctly! You have a good feel for T-Bone so keep up the good work. Duke
I must (once again) say a HUGE thanks to you for sharing this hard-earned wisdom. It's done so much for me as a musician. The other night at a gig someone approached me after the show and said what a pleasure it was to hear T-Bone being done properly. All credit for any compliment like that goes right back to you and SJ! : )
Hey Duke - thanks (as always) for yet another awesome series of lessons! You're an awesome teacher and I can't thank you enough for the musical doors you continue to open for me!
Here's my take (complete with family audience in background, hence my sending first rough cut - believe me I was playing like Django while this was uploading ; )
Thanks Duke! Love this tune, and know most the versions you mentioned (plus of course Charlie Christian). Don't think I've heard a vocal version, so going to have fun checking those out : )
Thanks Duke. Love that album as well! Can never get enough B.B. : )

Thanks Duke. Great lesson! I'm on exactly the same page as you when it comes to taste - so always love hearing you share and learning from you.
I posted a video on the backing track, but may try another https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=cdUIzFH3kPQ
Merry Christmas to you sir! : )

Thanks Duke! Our band opens with 'Mean Old World' but it never, ever feels right! It's exactly as you say, simple but not easy!

Thanks Duke. T-Bone is my (the!) main man!
Thanks Bruce, lovely stuff yourself, really dig those chord things you’re doing.
The Falcon is a beautiful guitar. Haven’t bonded with her yet (almost feels too nice to play, which is my dumb excuse : )

: ) thanks for the Houston Person album tip, just arrived today. How about a lesson on Billy Butler's take of 'Hard Times'?
