Great lesson Duke! What and how you share is invaluable to me. And your playing is astounding (so no need to keep apologising; you're a master! Listen to Muddy sing 'Young Fashioned Ways' and stop worrying : )
Great stuff Duke! Love this track. 'Hoodoo Man' and 'It's My Life Baby' are some of the coolest sounds there are. Bad week for my Strat to be in for repair! ; )
Thanks Duke! Absolutley love Pee Wee Crayton. Please could you share any tips on how you're setting tone on your Strat, and amp, to get Pee Wee's sound?
Hi Charlie, Well I am using the middle pickup with tone nearly wide open. I set the amp with treble about 5 and bass 3 or 4. Just flat and clean without too much twang. I also have an .011 to .049 set on that guitar.
Thanks Duke! It was an honour to trade fours with you! Afraid I couldn't get a cut were my 16 month year old boy wouldn't insist on sitting in (but at least you know the blues is safe for the next generation!)
Sounding great Charlie! That's beautiful your boy want to be with you while you're playing!'for a minute I thought he waa going to take over. Good training!
That was great Charlie! Really good execution and your rhythm was right in the pocket. I love the way you played that whole tone fast lick. I may have to learn it your way! Duke
Great tune. Thanks for introducing me to someone I'd never heard of - can't find this song on iTunes or even YouTube! Looking forward to getting into this one
Happy new year Duke! Thanks for all the great lesson's in 2017, can't wait to kick off 2018 with 'Worried Life Blues' (so many great versions to choose from - I love Chuck Berry's and of course Big Maceo).
Here's my ignorant cut of Frankie & Johnny - I took your advice and flew by seat of my pants.
Apologies for not posting videos of late - simple reason being I'm am hugely ignorant in all things technological (not just my guitar playing ; ) There used to be a video icon on SJ that I just clicked and recorded, but since that went I never learned how to do it for myself. But, thanks to your nudge, I've worked it out. So my new year's resolution is to do at least one video for every song.
My other resolution is to practise with a metronome. Beyond that do you have any advice on a daily practise schedule?
Thanks Duke - you're really opening a door for me here! Played a couple of gigs last week and (at the age of 40, having gigged since my teens) I'm starting to sound like I want to. Owe it all to you and SJ. Happy holidays
Love it! Thanks so much Duke - can't tell you how much I love Bill Jennings (and Billy Butler, Kenny Burrell, the list goes on...) You and SJ have helped me SO much

Here's a second attempt (without a toddler on my lap!) Did it straight off the cuff. Felt great to play with you Duke, you're the Man! : )

Heres my pass at your solo, then one of my own, then the changes and back to your solo...

Thanks Duke - I'm a week behind on lessons. Got to say I've loved every lesson you've taught on SJ, but this one is something extra special! :)
Glad you are enjoying it Charlie, This song has a lot of blues feel in it and it's a simple and great form to play over. Have #in with it!
Thanks Duke! Love this - thanks for opening another door for me. Ellington is the heavyweight champ!
PS really cool guitar
Thanks Charlie, Glad you like it. Duke

Thanks Duke. Having a great time with this one.
Awesome!! Thanks Duke
Beautiful track, and beautiful guitar - what's the model?
My homework so far has been Duke, Sinatra and Monk, but ears are open for more...
The guitar is an Eastwood Airline Tuxedo Charlie. Thanks, Duke
