Here's my take on Salute to Charlie Christian. I made a simple backing track so I had to change up the intro. I added a second solo chorus that I improvised. It's a mashup of things I've learned along the way through your lessons. I tried to play mostly out of the chord shapes as Paul showed in the lesson.
As always, thanks for teaching here on Sonic Junction.
This is the third time I've done this tune. This time I returned to a more traditional take on it. I've really been working on playing these tunes in their proper (slow) tempo. Playing them in a slow tempo has taught me a lot. I made a backing track in iReal and laid down lead and rhythm tracks.
Here's my take on Knock Me A Kiss. I made a backing track (piano, bass & drums) in iReal then added rhythm and lead guitar parts. As a public service I did not sing it, so my take is an instrumental. I tried to mimic the intro and ending of the Louis Jordan version with some octive slides.
Here's my take on Mood Indigo. I built a backing track in iReal (Piano, bass, drums) and then added the rhythm guitar. The track I found used a slightly different 1st A where the ii-V subs a Eb-7 to Eb7#5. It sounds cool so I went with it and modified the chord melody to match it. I tried to compose a solo of my own but dipped into many of the lines you've showed us in other lessons.
Hey Marty, That was really great. For a minute I thought I was listening to myself! You really got a good grasp of this. Now I want to hear you play your own solo and throw in some of the phrases but improvise keeping what you've learned from this in mind. Great job! Duke

Hi Duke,
Hi Duke,
I'd love a lesson on gospel style blues. Something along the lines of Worth Waiting' On from your Blues Full Circle album.
Great lesson. Thanks Duke.

Hey Mike, I'm not sure if you were aware that that link is busted. It goes to a backing track but it's not for this lesson.
Laoyao, The backing track at this point is the last lesson in this series (Lesson 5: Jam Track with Duke).
Thanks, Marty
Nice job Bruce!
Hi Duke,
He's my first cut at putting it all together. My camera is still on the fritz so just an audio track this time.
As always thanks for a great lesson.

Hi Duke, Here's something I put together while the turkey was cooking..
I played along with you for the first chorus did some chord fills for the second then improvised a solo based on some of the ideas you presented.
Thanks for the lesson, have a great Thanksgiving!Audio Player00:00 00:00 Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.
Hi Mike,
I think the new tab format looks great. One comment would be to have the chord names noted above the tab. I would find this very helpful.
Thanks for a great site!
Marty
Very cool!
Sweet!

Well, I really was working on the the lesson.... then I just got jaming to the backing track.
OK, back to the regularly scheduled programing... now where were we?
Wowza !! That is some tasty playing. I really like those chords around 1:30 --- and then how you drop down. Great stuff.
