Love it Duke! I would really like to have a lesson on the chords of the tune ... and also comping / chord fragments. The chords that Nat King Cole punches are really nice ... it would be great to get your thoughts on if and how you translate that to guitar. I also really enjoyed your Swingin' the Blues Lesson on comping ... and it would be great to have a song to play them with.
I agree with DaddyRay that it would be interesting to have a lesson on a Chuck Berry version ... and hear you talk about taking a tune to a different style. I also think some Chuck Berry lessons would be cool too!
Hi Danny .. we will get this tabbed out for you by Friday. Keep listening to the looped melody in the mean time. The more you listen, the more your mind will learn to 'hear' the notes ... and your mind will actually change!! No kidding, people have done scientific studies on this. That said, tab will be coming soon!
Hi Guys .. I tabbed out the key riffs for the lesson. Let me know if any others catch your ear and I would be happy to loop them and tab them out. Just let me know the timecodes. Thanks!
Hi Corey .. here's where I am. Sorry it's on my electic (acoustic has a broken string). I think I'm still muting the bass too much and need to work on solo (get it more fluid). Love the tune ... thanks!
PS. Did the recording on our new video recorder that's right next to the lesson videos.
Welcome to Sonic Junction! We have recently updated the video player with some new features and unfortunately created a bug: you can no longer click on the progress bar to back up the video. Our apologies and we will fix it this week.
In the mean time, you may want to try some of our new control features:
1. if you type a number on the keyboard .. it will loop back that many seconds
2. you can use the arrow keys to move the video back / ahead
3. typing Q W (loop start) ... and ... O P (loop end) will move the loop end points back and forth
Thanks for visiting and again, our apologies on the issue.
@Corey .. thanks! Yes, the accent on the 1 feedback is exactly what I needed. The tune flows much better for me now. I'm also letting up on the muting and like it. Thanks!
@Alex .. you sound great! Totally agree with you and Peter about this tune being harder than I first thought ... especially getting the rhythm. That said, I really enjoy the tune a lot. Sounds good on my electric too!
@Peter .. looking forward to seeing your video!
@Angalik .. thanks for the video. I always enjoy the background info you find. It makes the lessons richer. Always love Taj too!
@Vince .. I like your spirit! OK ... hand stretching here I come!
@Antonio .. I totally agree the tone is in the fingers. I'm also tending to use a pick less. I like the different kinds of sounds I can make, the control ... and it just feels right / more organic directly playing the strings.
Hi Corey ... love the tune! I've never played the shuffle like this in E using the open E form and my pinky to do the shuffling. It's a bit of a stretch ... but very cool as you can ring the other strings and do the riffs you taught. I'm excited because I think I'm going to be able to really learn this whole tune!
I've been playing the rhythm each day for 10 minutes and here's where I am. As you can see at the end, I have some trouble getting back to the I so I will work on it. Thanks!
Hi Duke .. love that F#9 with the octaves. Also dig the Magic Sam riffs .. I always liked his West Side Soul album. First heard it in college and it blew me away. I agree with DaddyRay ... dig that new guitar ... great tone!

Hi Danny ... thanks for the request. We've tabbed out the high string melody.
Please me know what you think and enjoy Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning .. it's a great tune!
Hi Duke ... I love the low walking riff ... I could sit back and play that for hours!!

Hi Jarko .. you're correct. My mistake. Jerry's playing a C Harp in the Key of G. My apologies for the error.

Great one Duke! There's something magical about the groove of this song and the solo. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's a beautiful thing!
Love the tune Corey! Reminds me a bit of My Creole Belle ... one of the first tunes I learned to finger-pick. I like this one even better!
Love it Duke! Especially that secret low end organ version ... that one is really cool!
@Alex .. You sounds Great!! Very fluid. Love that turnaround riff!

Love that turnaround riff Corey !!! That's one of the coolest lick I've hear in a long time!

Ha! Yes, when Duke said he had small hands and then I looked at mine ... I knew I was in trouble. I'm going to be doing it the easy way!
Love the bends and snaps Duke! ... and the BIG Riff too!
Here's a good video to practice too. Jerry and Eric in Hyde park 1996.
I agree BK ... singing the notes works for me too ... and I do it mostly for guitar.
This is going to be my first tongue blocking riff (I'm a beginner harp player). Love it Jerry!

Hi Peter .. you're doing the most important thing, practicing and moving into it!
For me, taking things really slow and playing it while tapping my foot always seems to help.
