Hi DaddyRay .. yes, I think there is an issue with the way it is being posted. Can you email me the video at mike @ sonic-junction.com ... and I will insert it in. Thanks!
Hi DaddyRay .. sorry for the confusion .. it takes a couple minutes for the video to transcode .. so just upload it and come back to the page 5 min later.
Looking forward to seeing it!
I've been working on the tune too and will upload a video in the next couple days.
@Alex .. thanks! Yes, amazing how much we both have learned. Each song is getting a easier for me. You're playing has really improved ... especially you right hand technique. I can see you putting to use the techniques Corey is teaching like the thumb pop of the base string.
Great to be with you on this journey with you and Corey!
Hi Corey .. here's where I am. Still getting it ... especially going to the E. The point you mentioned about imagining the vocals is a great piece of advice. It's funny how just imagining can influence my playing (the mind is really so interesting) ... that said, it seems to be a nice half-way point between just playing and singing. I'm going to experiment with it this week and see how it goes. Thanks for the great advice!!
Hi Jerry ... love these head. They totally get stuck in my head (I had Hot Cha in my head all last week). These are really great because after they get stuck in my head, I've been working on picking them out by ear ... and the more I work things out by ear, the easier it becomes.
Hi Jeffro ... glad you are enjoying Duke's lesson! Can you tell me more about your loop point issue? You can either post it as a comment or email me (mike@sonic-junction.com). Specifically, it would help to know what you are experiencing / seeing, your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome) and any other info that could help me further understand it.
Really enjoying this tune! I'm getting the main riff and beginning riff down. What would really help me for the next lesson is for you to play and break down one full chorus really, really slowly. It's cool in that I think working on some of the previous tunes, especially Everybody Ought to Change Sometime, has helped me with this one. Thanks!
Hi Alex,
Awesome article!!!! Thanks for getting the word out!!!
Hi Duke .. love the lesson! I've always messed around with this song, but never got it. Now I do!
@Daddyray .. funny, I heard some of those Blues After Hours licks too. I felt like this week was a big one for me as I'm starting to really hear Duke's playing at a deeper level ... and it's becoming more familiar to me. It's cool !!
@Ben & Rich ... Hey Guys. I totally agree that getting it in your head is the way to go. After hearing Jerry talk about it I know do it on guitar and it has worked wonders for my playing. The biggest improvement is in my phrasing and timing ... although it helps in all respects.
Also .. wanted to let you know that Jerry is touring through South America right now
Thanks Corey and Alex. I'm really enjoying the tune. I can feel my playing getting better too. I'm starting to hear the melody in my head and have my fingers go to the notes ... as opposed to thinking of patterns / tab etc. I've got a lot of work ahead and am enjoying the journey!
I've updated the lesson with chord labels and a loop point to play the progression through as many times as you like. Let me know how it works for you.
Hi DaddyRay ... yes, makes sense. I'm asking about fingerings as sometimes the voicings can be important and I'm trying to figure out if and how they should be included. Again, appreciate the thougths, it helps us to make a better service.

Great tune Corey !! I'm going to enjoy learning this one.
Hi DaddyRay .. you're right. The tune was actually kicking around even before then. Nice article here about the history of the song: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forty-Four_(song)
Would be great to hear your version!

@Alex ... Awesome! You inpsire me ... I will post a video tomorrow.
Hi Guys ... video issue is fixed. The URL had too many YouTube tracking parameters. We will update out software to take these out in the future.
Great playing Rick!
@Alex ... Awesome!! You really pick things up quick!
Do you think knowing Everybody Ought to Change helped you with this tune?
Hope all is well in Italy!

Hi Corey .. I'm loving this tune. It's going to be a keeper for me. I like the turnaround and how it goes from major to minor. Here's where I am.

Hi Corey ... really enjoying this tune. Here's where I am ...
It's getting there. Still need to work on getting the fingers to do all the right things.
Love this tune Corey! It's hard, but well worth it. I find myself singing it / humming along too.
Right now I'm just working through all of the sections very slowly to get my fingers comfortable with it. I will post a video later this week. Thanks!
